    iTunes on the ball?
posted by Jordan Lindsey on Wednesday August 20 2008 @ 07:18AM PDT
Digital Distribution I submitted my CD to CDBaby on July 29th. It got sent to iTunes on the 15th, and I checked itunes yesterday to see if my podcast was searchable, and not only do i find my podcast, I see my whole album already on itunes, 4 days later! I couldn't believe it. Anyone else had this good of luck? Thank you CDBaby!

I hate to burst anybodys bubble but itunes sucks. Why? because you are not found in BROWSE or should I say we the artist are not found in BROWSE. BROWSE is extremley important!! If we would be in BROWSE all of us artist would be able to be stummbled upon and millions that dont know us would have a chance to find us. Verizon is no longer, there v-cast merged with Rhapsody.

I was number 5 in v-cast catagory of rock for months making a couple hundred every 2 months then they merged. Im gone. Rhapsody also sucks!! THEY DONT HAVE A A-Z BROWSE. Why cant these companies get it right. Very frustrated with all these companies that add us to there data base and hide us. Its so simple just ask isounds what a great system, they just dont have the amount of people going to there site. If you want to get some Free marketing go to myxertones.com and make ringtones for Free. I got 200 people downloading my ringtones in 2 days. Then I make sure people know where to go to buy my CD/MP3s. Amazon Mp3s. I have had a Cdbaby acct for 3 years not much sales besides v-cast 1500.00. 1 song. It sold because of the location and the large company(mass people), sure its a good song but im not breaking charts.

Yes, in few days or weeks your album is on Itunes.
But sometimes could be some short delay, above all for the podcasts.
I have waited six months to find one podcast I submitted in November.

Ah...thank you CdBaby for your fast service!

I recently signed up my second album for digital distribution with CDBaby and in less than one week it was available on iTunes. I had a few queries with regard to this particular release and the staff at CDBaby were not only quick to respond, but extremely helpful as well.

Has anyone in here submitted just one song? I'm curious cause I'm planning on starting out with that. Simply because my song recording process is so slow and I've become very impatient lately. Anyway, I don't expect to make a ton of money I would just like my music to be available and I certainly won't argue with any money I might get.

Yes you can submit just one song but it will cost you the same as a whole album as CD baby has to do the same basic page and work regardless if it is one song or 10, well not exactly but close enough. So go for it!

My CD was received by itunes back in november and it still hasn't appeared. Is it at all possible that it would take that long?

    by Paolo on Tuesday September 02 2008 @ 12:45PM PDT [ reply | parent ]
    @Charlie:

    It is strange.
Have you searched it in the right way?
What is the title of your album and the artist's name?
    I am curious.
    Thank You.

my first album or two took about that long.. months and months..

    Paolo,
The CD is songs from an outpost and i'm the artist Charlie O' Brien. Though I was onto cdbaby recently and they said there must have been some problem with the upload and they'd rectify it promptly, we'll see how that works!

    Regarding iTunes:

We submitted a form to iTunes for their approval way before we joined CD Baby. When we were approved by iTunes then we joined CD Baby. Evidently, we were already in the iTunes system before CD Baby processed both of John's albums because we had same-day appearances both at CD Baby and iTunes.

I have had good luck with itunes and in fact most of the transactions with them have been downloads. In fact emusic, Verizon and Itunes in all its different locations have been my main sales partners. I will say it does take some time to get listed sometimes, not quit sure why but it happens. All in all though emusic and Itunes are the biggest distributors for me and these are complete strangers that are buying my music and I am knowbody so there must be a way they are finding me as I have not advertised nor do I do shows I am a one man act.

How long does it take to have your tunes posted on CD Baby once they are submitted?

by Kevin at CD Baby on Wednesday October 01 2008 @ 11:53AM PDT [ reply | parent ]
    Mark,

Once we receive your music at our warehouse, it usually takes
about 3-4 days for us to get your music up and selling on our site.
