I've found them to be very helpful and they're regularly emailing me with new ideas they've devised to help artists promote their music.
The member control panel etc. is easy to use and even the free service has lots to offer - well worth a try!

Reverbnation is an excellent service, i've been using them for about a year now.. and the features are simply astounding... and lately they've been adding premium services to help out as well, the newsletter system has helped me connect even better with my fans, and its free... and the widgets are great...so yeah.. good service :-)

RN is great, but I would stick with CD Baby's digital distribution program over theirs any day..

I Like the fact that they have alot more widgets and ways that you can promote your label, band, ect.
I think it would be a great idea for cdbaby to offer an mp3 widget that you can put on myspace or a blog, or perhaps your own band page.
Also, having artists upload music videos to cdbaby will be a great way to give potential customers more of an experience so that our sales can rise.

I have used RN for years and I agree with every comment above.
They are also more expensive than CDBaby as they charge a yearly fee. They also don't stock or supply stores with physical CD;s.
However.....
Their widgets and promotional tools are second to none - simply superb.
If CDBaby pull their finger out and offer widgets like RN CDB with not only do the great job they do but would allow us to do an even easier and better way of promoting!!!
CDB, please start offering more widgets (players etc)

I've found RN to be a pleasure to work with (not distributing, that's entirely CDBaby still).
The stats, the front end, the ease/fun of using the site is all good. I would LOVE CDBaby to expand into that kind of site but keeping it's distribution as is. They could make money for the streaming royalties from the non invasive ads as RN do (which also pays a small 'fair share' to the artists).
However, having said this - right now I do like CDBaby's single minded directness. It's clear intent as a 'middle man' to distribution and I'm fine with that if it stays that way.
I would just prefer more of my audience have a reason to visit CDBaby (other than me forcefully directing them here to buy the downloads 'cheaper' - and with more of a cut to me of course). Basically that would be a massive change/undertaking and would require quite a lot of changes in the core of the site (to work in a similar way to lastfm and RN) but i'm not sure if CDBaby even want to do that (and if they don't they why would they try to compete?). They still have great distribution and are well respected as a long serving artist oriented company so as long as they stick around then I'm happy :)

My vote - CDBaby does what it does fabulously for the most part. an easy, reliable conduit to sell the music in a variety of ways. ReverbNation is an excellent Web 2.0 resource, and the widgets in particular are the main thing I use (and a variety of them, music players with different playlists for several purposes!).
Your mileage may vary, but frankly there are three dozen or more websites out there that all offer the indie musician access to the potential audiences interested in what we do - some stuff overlaps, some are completely unique. When they start duplicating each other's efforts, sometimes it works well, other times it just muddles the issue.
I prefer CDBaby stays focused on resources and tools to help sell our music and keep its brandname and reputation high, while continuing to seek and develop new avenues for music sales. I am interested to see what new things they will offer in light of the services that TuneCore and others are providing. Digital content outlets are certainly a dime a dozen these days, but TuneCore seems to be working with a couple that are intriguing.
with warm regards from Blue Ridge country,
Andrew

Even if you don't use their digital distribution service, I think EVERY band should be on Reverb Nation - their promotional tools and email management is top notch.
We struggled for a long time with fan email services - they either didn't do what we needed or cost too much. RN has it down - it does pretty much everything you could want AND it's free.
